LARGE COFFEE TABLE BOOK OF THE LIVES AND CAREERS OF THE BEATLES. ILLUSTRATED WITH BLACK & WHITE AND COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY. This description may be from another edition of this product.
The Beatles by Mike Clifford was published in 1991 as one of the early predecessors of the more recent mammoth collections of photographs and commentary books we are now used to seeing pop up every year or two. And it is an incredible book in it's own right. Clifford, a celebrated journalist, basically set out to do two things with this release: 1) Provide 192 pages of fabulous color and black and white photographs of The Beatles, many filling the incredible 14" x 12" heavy stock format and 2) walk the reader through those images with a positive, uplifting commentary based on the music The Beatles made, rather than expose the dirt and turmoil that would become the norm for many books that followed. Published in hardcover, the book also includes the expected discography with album art and takes the reader from the Quarry Men days up through Abbey Road. There are also sections on The Beatles' movies, memorabilia, Brian Epstein, Stu Sutcliffe, Pete Best, and the solo careers of John, Paul, George and Ringo. I would highly recommend this book for the completist fan and especially if you can find it in good shape at a bargain price!
