yet another WATERLOO book!

This new book covers the broad political background leading up to the battle, and the situation that followed, as much as the battle itself. It also considers opportunities lost on both sides during the battle which may have altered the outcome. If your interest is specifcally the details of the battle, then Jac Weller's book is hard to beat, but this is a good read nevertheless.

scholarly

Jeremy Black has written a well researched review of the Battle of Waterloo and the events leading up to it. He compares these events to other campaigns of Napolean and certain other historic parallel events. If I were to fault the book, it would be that these comparisons sometimes are distracting from the main thread of the story.
