Book Overview

It has been ten years since the great battle that wiped out all the superhumans. Whether they all died that day or simply lost their powers and blended back into society, only one thing is certain: They are gone. Or are they? Thirteen-year-olds Danny and Colin have recently begun changing. How can they explain Danny’s newfound ability to move at the speed of light, or Colin’s surprising strength? They can’t, but their parents—the lost generation of...

A great start...

This is such a neat start to a series, that holds a lot of promise. It seems that one point in history, we had superheros and supervillians called superhumans. Then one day, all of a sudden all of the superheros vanish. Gone. Nowhere to be seen or found. What happened to all of them? Were they killed? Retired? What happened? Then 10 years pass and some kids are showing signs that they could be superheros, but how did that a happen and what super powers could they have. That seems like people would welcome superheros back with open arms. You'd think that...but not everyone is pleased to have superhero's around, and will do anything thing to get rid of them. Even if it means to kill thousands of innocent people. The only reason why I give this book 4 starts and not 5 is because of the language. It's not worse than a PG movie, but I guess I have a problem with language in books for kids. That's the only reason why this isn't 5 stars. This is a great start to a promising series. This has a lot of plot twists, turns and fantastic characters and very good writing. I highly suggest this series. I can't wait to read the rest of them.

Quantum: Superhero Book of the Century

Everyone knows the classic super heroes in films and in our old comic books, but did you think that anyone could make a super hero series that can match that? In fact, Quantum is easily the best super hero book I have ever read because it was beyond exciting and the characters were so easy to connect with. From the first page to the last it was nearly impossible to put down the book. Michael Carrol does a great job of keeping multiple story lines going in the book, which wants you to know where every character is in the book. Also, the characters are so much fun to follow. Colin, the main character, is a fun but humble main character, making the book have a happy balance, while Danny is more of an good-evil character. Danny is easily the greatest influence to everyone in the book, so his bipolar way of justice is keeping the book moving just as much as everyone else.

X-Men for beginners...

I wanted to love this book. I really did. A lifelong comic book man like me WANTS to love a book like this. However, it did not work out that way. All in all, the book was a fun read that moved pretty well once you got past the origin story. It just lacked that "ummph" that I was expecting. I had a hard time creating a mental image of many of the scenes described in the book. Perhaps it was just me though (I have no problem doing so in most other books). I liked the idea of the story and can see a likeable quality amongst the characters but right now there is just something missing. I do plan on reading it's sequals but unless something changes I don't think I will be dropping my comics anytime soon. I still need my superhero fix after all.

quantum prophecy

I've never really read a book before. I'm interested in comic books and this is a great story about super humans.

Slightly cliched, but worth reading..

I read this book a while back, and though it was cliched, it was still good. I ordered books 2 and 3 from England, and they get a bit better. So if you find a copy of this book somewhere, read it.
