Where is Atlantis?

Quite an adventure story, with a brilliant professional, Russian spy, newspaper reporter, and the Catholic Church. It read a bit slow in the beginning, but halfway through, became riveting.

Finding Atlantis?

Imagine if Atlantis really existed ... and if someone found it. Imagine what may have happened there. This was a book I enjoyed very much. It was a bit Indiana Jonesish not too surprising the author is an academic. I look forward to the next book.

What a Ride

What a ride this book took me on. I was captivated from the beginning swept in from the start. For me I have read "Angels and Demons" this book so much more better then that book. Atlantis just puts you right there with the people your running along with them running away from bullets that are flying all over. Your on a chase to find something that has been hiden for thousands of years plus other secrets come out that you did not suspect at all. Its' a thrill ride from start to finish will not be disappointed at all.

Extremely Entertaining

I did not read the "the da vinci code" so I can't make any comparisons of that with the "The Atlantis Code," but the suspense in the "atlantis code" was extremely entertaining. I became increasingly more and more curious while reading this book. It just sort of keeps you glued to the story.

THE ATLANTIS CODE - fantastic suspense!

THE ATLANTIS CODE is a great thriller! Like Dan Brown meets The Last Templar, it's a page-turner that's also well-researched and historically accurate. Thomas Lourds is a great protagonist, and the combination of exotic locales and colorful supporting characters makes for a fun, fast-paced read. I couldn't put it down - in fact, I literally stayed up all night reading it. I can't recommend THE ATLANTIS CODE enough, it's the perfect holiday gift.

Wildly entertaining read!

This book kept me up all night. I just didn't want to put it down. I'm a big thriller fan, so I picked the book up on the basis of the quotes on the cover, even though the author was new to me. Now I'm putting Charles Brokaw on my must read list and waiting anxiously for the next book in the series. The gist of the book is that Professor Thomas Lourds is an expert in ancient languages. When he's called in to evaluate an unusual and very ancient artifact, it blows his mind because the writing on it is in a language he's never seen before. If it isn't a fabulous forgery, he's holding a piece from an advanced lost civilization--one with a writing system that's never been studied. But before Lourds can really sink his teeth into the new find, a band of well-armed thugs bursts in to the studio in Alexandria, Egypt, where he's examining the piece. They are prepared to kill to get the find, and Lourds is forced to hand it over. But his curiousity is piqued. He begins a search for related artifacts, one that puts his life and the lives of everyone he knows in danger, and leads him and his team halfway around the world. Before he's done, he's got his eyes on lost Atlantis, and the many treasures that could be buried there. But what Lourds doesn't know about those treasures is that they brought the civilized world down once before, and could do so again. As I said, I really had fun with this one. It's fast paced, intense, and yet very amusing in places. There's a lot of unusual trivia to learn from it, and the characters are well drawn and convincing. Good book!
