Art of Dying: Poems

In this collection of ninety new poems, Red Hawk touches raw nerves in a spectrum of vital subjects -- from children, nature and family, to God, politics and death. Whether he is telling a funny story about himself, or indicting Western civilization, from its blindness and cruelty, Red Hawk's words are always precise, often ruthless, and ultimately compassionate. Possibly the Greatest Undiscovered Poet of our Times

Red Hawk's poems are pure genius, they contain magic, power, honesty, pain, joy, hope and redemption. I have actually cried reading his poems. This man is a treasure, a national treasure. All I can say is that if you do not buy this book of poems, there is no hope for you. So don't wait another second, click on that one-click shopping link now!

The Finest Poet in the English Language

Red Hawk's work is staggering in its genius, its power, its gutsy honesty, and its pared down, spare elegance of style. My 10 year old loves this book and my mother (74) also loves it. Each has her own copy, as do my wife and I. Charles Bukowski once said about Red Hawk: "He's the one." You can see what Snyder, Berry, Wilbur, Miller Williams, and Hayden Carruth say--5 of the biggest hitters in the business--on the back of the book: they love this man's work and so do I. If you buy one damn book in your life, make it this one, it will change everything for you. It did for us. If there is a Buddha, He sleeps in Red Hawk's bed.

Poems by Redhawk

Poetry for poets - form is weaned to the bone - meaning is allowed to be found by the reader due to understatement and clear explication. A delight in this 21st century - compares to Thomas Baily Aldrich in beauty.

an earthbound voice speaks

This is the poet Red hawk's fourth book. Running through all of Red Hawk's work is a common theme, a vision, a continuity seasoned by the poet's spiritual practice and his love of the earth. Red Hawk's voice is one that should be heard in these times of anomie and environmental decay.

This is book has something to say about real poetry.

I loved this book! It is one to return to, for a while. Red Hawk's work seems to be much less indulgent and affected than a lot of poetry I've seen. The guy has something to say, and you have to listen to catch it. Spiritual and real. I highly recommend this book to all, especially fans of Gary Snyder's, the down home sensibility of Wendell Berry or Stafford.
