Sexy guide to making the most of your assets....a little shake and wiggle and you will be belly dancing in your room tonight. This description may be from another edition of this product.
An excellent book for beginners. I've owned a copy for about 15 years and during all that time I have not been able to find a more comprehensive OR clearly written book on this subject. Laura Cooper's "Belly Dancing Basics" is ok, for instance, but I find the way the instructions are written to be somewhat unclear (by comparison). Not so with Dahlena's "Art of Belly Dancing". It starts with a brief introduction on the history of belly dancing, goes into the warm up exercises and builds a nice foundation for strengthening the body for more advanced movements. It ends with music, etiquette and even instructions on how to make your own bellydance costumes. One element of this book that is simultaneously wonderful and frustrating are the photos. Each move is photographically illustrated step by step which is wonderful; however the photos are very small. The book itself is also quite small, so for these reasons it is not the most user friendly book. It deserves to be reissued in a larger format, with digitally enhanced photos. This definitely has to be the most no nonsense, no frills, how-to book of belly dancing available for the beginner.
