Interestingly, this $3.95 used version is the original edition of this very, very well-done book. When it first came out the author, Tim Benford, was compared to Stephen King, and deservedly so. The newest edition is also offered on this list a bit further down (and costing $18.95.) The new version seems to be the one collecting all the reviews and I urge you to check them out. The Ardennes Tapes went back to press in 2000 as a larger size book with an exciting, new cover (the original cover art was meaningless!)and we've recently read that it has been optioned for a movie. Whichever copy you purchase you are assured of a classic, adventure, suspense, page-turner by an author we lament not seeing more novels from! I began reading this book on a long plane flight and became so absorbed that I didn't realize we landed until people were shuffling past me in the aisles. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy. It is perfect escapism, told in a very believable way. Benford knows history and is a stickler for colorful, factual details to dress up a scene. His first novel, Hitler's Daughter, is equally good and as suspenseful. I wish he would write more. His writing is original and not the typical formula stuff so common in this genre.
