Exceptional first novel

You are pulled right into the story for the start and before you know it, you are done with it and wanting more. Lonardo has the exceptional ability of bringing the beginning and ending together. Spreading out the twists and turns to keep you hooked, and up all night reading. Lonardo is able to draw you into each main character, understanding them and feeling for them. I have not read a book in a long time that has kept me on my toes all the way to the end, like The Apostate. All the way to the last work, Lonardo holds you in his literary grasp. Then makes you reflect on today's society.I absolutely enjoyed reading The Apostate and cannot wait for Lonardo to come out with is next book. I will be first in line.

A Wonderful New Book

When I first heard about The Apostate, I wasn't sure about it. But, I figured I'd give it a try. After finally getting a copy of the book, I had a difficult time putting it down. The story flows along easily, yet holds the readers interest. You think you know what's coming next, but that's where you get fooled. There are just enough surprises throughout the book to keep it interesting, but yet not confuse the reader. And believe me, when you're just about finished with the book, and you think you know the ending, be prepared to be surprised. For a young, new writer, Mr. Lonardo has done a wonderful job. I am recommending this book to all my friends.

A wonderful first novel

Remember when you read for the first time a book written by, say, Isaac Asimov, or Stephen King, or Harlan Ellison? And when you decided to collect all their books, going all the way back to their earliest published works? And when you wondered what it must have felt like to actually discover these amazing writers, back when they were just starting out, struggling to have their work known?Well, here's your chance. Paul Lonardo's first novel is a wonderful showcase of his talents. He creates well-written, detailed and believable characters, placing them in an eerie and unsettling world only one step away from the one you and I inhabit. His work is quick-paced, the story flowing as easily and naturally as his characters' dialogue. It pulls you into the story, as situations and memories, readily identifiable and perhaps even common to the reader, present themselves one after another. The Apostate is a book you won't be able to put down until you finish it; chances are you won't be able to stop thinking about it until much, much later.

Strong first novel!

A very fine first novel for Paul Lornado. This novel is rich in characters and has a strong plot. The twist and turns of the storyline make for a page turner. The struggles in Caldera are our struggles. As you read through this novel you will begin to see the "devil" in our own world, and wonder as they do in Caldera, can we overcome evil? In the novel hope lies in three people. We feel Chris, Saney and Julian pain as they struggle to fight the battle of good and evil. This novel was definetly worthy of a five star rating and I am looking forward to future works from Mr. Lonardo

A MUST READ!

Above all else this book is a great story. It also has the depth in its characters that you do not see everyday. It takes you on a trip not only cross-country, but also into the depths of your own soul. It causes you to ponder your own values, while the conviction of Chris, Saney, and Julian is tested.
