The Reptiles and Amphibians of Louisiana is a great book with the recreational and professional herpetologist alike. I contend with the previous review that the artwork is exceptional (if you are looking for pictures, I recommend Peterson Field Guide) and the use of scientific names is appropriate for this type of literature. The book also provides important field keys for Louisiana herps, as well as county record maps. However, as stated in the previous review, some of the taxonomy is outdated. However, the taxonomy of many Reptile and Amphibian books are outdated, including the Peterson Field Guide. W. Selman Graduate Student, Herpetology
