Traces the history of the American Legion, the world's largest veterans organization, as it grew and changed to keep pace with a rapidly changing world This description may be from another edition of this product.
As a new Commander of an American Legion Post, I purchased this book to learn the background of the organization. If you are an officer in the American Legion you need this book. It starts out in 1919 describing the thoughts and ideals that the originators had, on up to 1989. It shows the many things the Legion has done for military veterans. They were key in establishing the American Heart Association and the Veterans Bureau. You see that not much has changed since 1919 as far as the ideals and beliefs that are still held in todays posts. Great book.
