great fiction, fun read

this book is a great read, very engrossing, much high drama. rofheart's cleopatra is a very sympathetic character whom it is lots of fun to listen to. covers her whole life, with many interesting details, but it should not be relied upon for accuracy! fact and fiction are very well blended, and ms rofheart takes many liberties with the small details to improve the story. with that in mind, i still loved this novel (and have read it many times!) and would recommend it to fans of cleopatra/egypt and readers of modern-day fiction both.

A Good Read

I really liked this book. I am not overally familiar with Cleopatra's history, and I think that, more than anything, this book made me learn more about her so that I don't still think she was a sultry, bimbo-ish pharoah who killed herself for Marcus Anthony. It isn't a Danielle Steele novel, and it isn't dry history either. I recommend it.

Excellent novel

This book was brilliant! It was a perfect blend of drama, romance, and tragedy. I am now addicted to Cleopatra. I preferred the first half of the novel, but the ending was spectacular!

Excellent use of History and fiction.

This book is well written and weaves a mixture of history and fiction together so well that you can't tell where one ends and the other starts. The book is told from Cleopatra's point of veiw and descibes her loves and losses very well. It makes you feel like you are there living all of her adventures with her. The ending is very touching. The cover is beautifully done with a drawing of Cleopatra and Marc Antony standing together. Behind the cover is a drawing of a young Cleopatra reclining on a lounge. A MUST read for all Cleopatra fans.

Best fictional account of Cleopatra

A brilliantly done fictional account of Cleopatra and her life. From Marc Antony to Cesar and her inevitable death. This book reigns supreme in its weaving fact with fiction. For all those Cleopatra and Egyptian history fans this is a must read and re-read.....
