Chef Glenn Powell's signature comfort food from the funky retro eatery Agnes and Muriel's Cafe is captured in this cookbook. These recipes will delight foodies everywhere. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I must admit that I typically do not get enthusiastic about yet another cookbook. But this book is SUCH AN EXCEPTION. FUN is the operative word here. It's apparent that the author believes that cooking should be--and can be--fun. The recipes, graphics, and other text reflects this view. In addition, the recipes are VERY good. I already have tried the amusingly titled and surprisingly easy to do Carmen Miranda Chicken Salad. It was unusually tasty, as were the fried asparagus appetizer, the collards (this IS a southern cookbook, after all), and the way too sinful biscuits. This will be the stocking stuffer I purchase for my friends this year.
A gastronomical gem!

The cookbook field is of course a crowded genre, which makes it all the more amazing when a particular contribution stands out so considerably that one feels compelled to recommend it to everybody, regardless of your abilities in the kitchen or your culinary predilections. However, I have recently encountered exactly such a gem of a cookbook, and it is The Agnes & Muriel's Café Cookbook. I will confess to a certain bias, since Agnes and Muriel's is one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. But, even so, the cookbook represents an exceptionally talented effort to allow both serious and casual cooks alike to reproduce some of the restaurant's best dishes. The section on appetizers alone is well worth the price of the book, and the clever graphic design helps to recapture some of the restaurant's inimitable atmosphere. I have already tried preparing several dishes myself and have been impressed with both the clarity of the recipes and the quality of the result. Great food, great book!

How can one NOT love a cookbook that includes Cool Whip in one of its recipes? Cool Whip aside, this is a GREAT cookbook. The recipes conjure up memories of my Mother's cooking, but the recipes are so much better than Mom's. (Thank goodness!) The cookbook has great presentation and is very well done, but not in that overcooked sense. The recipes are written for both the neophyte and the advanced cook. I cannot imagine a cook or the lucky diner of one of these recipes not absolutely delighting in the experience.
The perfect gift for Christmas!

This is the first cookbook I've actually used! As someone who stumbles around the kitchen, I've never found a cookbook that really enticed me to give it a try like this one does. The recipes are gool ole' home cookin' like your mama's (not MY mama's, thank goodness), but with a certain special flair. So, even though I have absolutely zippo culinary talent, with this fun cookbook, I get to impress my friends. Thank you, Glenn Powell, for this special treat, especially right before the holidays. Buy one for your friends!

A year ago, when I moved from Atlanta to Florida, I thought I'd left all the great food from my favorite restaurant behind me. But now, with Glenn Powell's new cook book, the wonderful home cooking that I used to get at Agnes and Muriels is available in my very own kitchen. Written by someone who obviously takes pleasure in making these delectable recipes easy to execute, this book is perfect for even the most fledgling cook. And the book is also a feast for the eyes in its artistic presentation - much like the restaurant itself. I LOVE THIS BOOK and recommend it to everyone who enjoys serving and impressing friends and family with mouth-watering home cooking.
