For me this involved finding a way to walk past a display of salt and vinegar chips without a trace of an urge to gobble down a bagful. Second we need to find a way to supply the body with what it truly needs, but in a pleasurable, satisfying, Life supporting fashion - in the case of chips, the answer for me was organic potatoes saut?ed in ghee along with a sprinkle of lime juice, and salt from the deep mines of Utah. Yum, and no guilt.
The 20 Sessions in The Aging Reversal Course (268 pp, ) focus on finding ways to balance each person's unique Ayurvedic body type through the practical, sensible, time tested approaches of Ayurveda. There is plenty of theory, but the focus is practical, sensible approaches to diet, breathing, hydration, sleep. For example, when you eat is as important as what you eat (see research from the Salk Institute). Ayurvedic diet - which recommends only foods that are satisfying for you - has understood this principle for thousands of years. How hard is it to follow the circadian rhythms? How pleasant is it? Add in some pleasant herbs and spice to support digestion and Ayurvedic cooking produces a symphony for the six tastes as well as fuel for a full life. Weight Management? We hardly discuss it. Weight loss - if needed - just happens, or if weight gain is needed it happens. No strain; no pain.
The Dosha are clearly discussed and a very effective body type questionnaire is included.
The focus is longevity and the recommendations are practical and useful. The body wants to feel good. And we want to feel good. We want longevity; we want pleasure; and many of us seek the bliss of samadhi experiences - which Ayurveda is designed to support.
It is a good read - a book you can refer to for decades.
