Recounts the adventures of Ulysses from his encounter with the wild boar through the Trojan War and the odyssey home to Ithaca. This description may be from another edition of this product.
My eleven-year-old son said this is the best book he has ever read! When I asked him why, he said that he enjoyed reading about all of Ulysses' adventures. We own several of the Landmark history books (published by Random House in the 50s & 60s) and he has read most of them. This is his favorite thus far although a couple of years ago he was stuck on all the ones that relate to World War II. In my opinion, the Landmark books are the absolute BEST history books that have ever been written for young boys. I can't recommend this series highly enough for boys ages 10-14 (of course depending on reading level, but that's about the average age). Another wonderful advantage of the books is that most of them are non-fiction so they can easily double as schoolwork. No matter what era in history we're studying, I just pull out Landmark books that relate to that era and the children pick them up to read. We use a pretty relaxed method of schooling and the children don't even realize that the books are "schoolwork." That's education at its best. Enjoy!! Sonya Haskins :) [...]
