Ramayana is as ancient as India is. Nothing defines Indian traditions more than Ramayana. There are many a versions of the story and this books mostly follows Valmiki's tradition. If there ever is one criterion of a good story telling, it is how involved it make the listener and how emotional it can make to the reader. When I first read "Adventures of Rama" by Joseph Gaer to my then 4 year old daughter it was a book borrowed from local library. It took us much longer to finish than most other similar sized books had taken just because I would get all choked up reading it aloud. I wanted to buy it right away but it is unfortunate that book is out of print forever. I eventually acquiesced to buying it used and I am proud I own this wonderful jewel. There is never been a better children's version than Gaer's. A must buy / read.
