Who is Arthur Mulrooney? In the years following World War II, he arrives in the tiny hamlet of Little Bridge to spend his twilight years with his friend George Wallace. When he unwittingly becomes involved in the lives of a young woman, her daughter and abusive husband, he is thrust into an attention he is so desperate to avoid, with dramatic consequences.
