Not five minutes in a one-horse Texas town, and Hank Larson foils a bank robbery. No matter that one of the bandits tripped right over Hank's dusty boots. Suddenly, the newcomer is hailed a hero and anointed sheriff. Hank came to Glory to report crime in the newspaper--not stop it himself. But everyone thinks the Lord led him there to save the day. Everyone except the town's beautiful healer, Amelia Hawthorne. The robber who got away was her nineteen-year-old brother. And it's Hank's job to bring the guy in. Hank knows all about losing family. And he slowly sets about restoring Amelia's shaky faith. But doing what's right might mean breaking her heart...and his own.
The Accidental Lawman is a fantastic book! I wish I could give it more than five stars, because this story is really outstanding. It has great characters and a surprising plot. The heroine is very strong, she is a healer (midwife, doctor, dentist ...), and she is really lovely. The hero, Hank, is so sweet; he is the sheriff and a journalist. I fell in love with them. This is a well-written story of faith, courage and love. Jill Marie Landis really is a blessed and gifted storyteller. If you like Historical Romances and Westerns don't miss this book. It is a page-turner.

I love Jill Marie Landis books, most especially the vintage historical westerns she writes. I'm so happy she has gone back to this....but I have to say while I enjoyed The Accidental Lawman I was just a little disappointed. I enjoyed the Homecoming much better. I loved that she included some of the characters from her last book, and hope she does this again. There are so many people we would love to know how it turns out. For me I wish Hank was a little more on the masculine side, a more cowboy type and there was a little too much prayer etc. But of course this is just my opinion. I always recommend Jill Marie Landis' books, she is a very talented writer...I get lost in her books and hopes she continues to entertain us! If you haven't tried one of her books then you are missing out. Try Summer Moon, Magnolia Creek, Wildflower, and so many others of her earlier ones. Loved them.

I have read every thing of Jill Marie Landis and this is one of the best books that she has written. It is refreshing to have a story line that is more of a love story than all sex. The characters were well defined and I would love to know what happens with the rest of the towns people. This goes back more to the vintage Jill Marie Landis books like Sunflower, one of her first books.I love the way she incorporated the characters of Hattie, Joe and Rebekah from the previous book. She did not lose you if you had not read the book or if it had been awhile since it had been read.
