My Miracle Book

My aural theory teacher actually recommended this dictionary to the class, and she makes all of her oboe students get it. I'm so glad she recommended it to us, because it's a miracle music dictionary. I've been using the standard Pocket Music Dictionary for a while now, but I couldn't find the words that I needed anymore. Now I know that any word I find in my music will be in this book. Thank you, thank you!

A great resource for musicians

I love this book and have given many copies as gifts to students. I work at the college level with voice majors and have found this such a helpful resource for quickly checking musical terms - tempo and interpretive markings, etc. In over 5 years, there have only been two terms that I was unable to find in the book! The print size is very readable and the volume is lightweight enough to carry around. The price is quite reasonable also.

Excellent Resource!

Christine Ammer's outstanding text on foreign musical terms is concise, clear, and handy. I require it for all my students, and use it regularly myself. I only wish it would come in mass-market size and LEATHERBOUND, so that it could fit more easily in an instrument case and could stand up to the regular beating it takes (because I have it with me at all playing jobs).

Invaluable reference!

This is a FANTASTIC reference for your music library. I have found many relatively obscure musical terms listed in this book. Ammer has done a great job compiling from a variety of languages, and includes helpful things like common variations of terms and abbreviations. I've purchased this book as a gift for college-bound music majors, and it has been much appreciated.
