Solace and Support for Life's Challenges

Every day I counsel people who are living with cancerin my position with Cancer Recovery Foundation (www.cancerrecovery.org). Their stories are heart-wrenching, their circumstances are devastating, their lives are turned upside down. I should know. My wife learned that she had cancer in 2004. We understand the harsh aftermath. The fact is too many live in desperate fragility as they undergo treatment and live with a dread of cancer for the rest of their lives. Even when people are in remission or have been told they are "cured", in the backs of so many of their minds is the fear that cancer could return. What I have learned and relearned is that when you stand on the threshold between life and death, as so many people living with cancer do, you need a source of power far greater than your own. For so many, prayer is that power. Prayer helps us to gain a different perspective. It enables us to connect beyond ourselves and our immediate concerns. It works to begin to ease our minds and it calms our hearts. Prayer is a source of strength and a gift of peace. But these 7 pretty much capture a cool route to energizing your faith (or maybe finding it again) when the world is tumbling down or really really troubling. Good things here for kids and young people too. I can guess some folks will say this is too simple but I like their idea that connecting with God is easy, simple natural. Appealing heart-felt book.

A great book for these times!

Wow!!!!!! An inspiring book, the true story of a family in hard times, just like now, getting closer together and using their faith to overcome some really bad stuff that happened to them. I found the prayers the family created to help 'em get through their hard times not only beautiful but also useful for my own situations. I especially like The Third Great Prayer, "God, You are within me", and The Fifth one, "God, I see You everywhere." You will looooove this book!
