Pam Holland's personal story of the famous 1776 quilt will capture the imagination of every quilter. Besides sharing the amazing history behind the antique quilt's construction on the battlefront by Sorbian soldiers--who used materials from their uniforms to piece it together--this book also shares the technique Holland used to successfully replicate the quilt. Quilters who are looking to incorporate her new technique--called inlay appliqu?--into their own work can use the included patterns, each of which were inspired by the original 1776 quilt. Featuring both incredible designs and a compelling story, this is a captivating read for quilters and historians alike.
I felt like I was sitting with a friend who was telling me about a quilt she had made - and I was. The book is well written, beautifully presented and a pleasure to read. She must be a wonderful teacher also. I would strongly recommend the book even for non-quilters.
A Perfect Blend of History and Sewing

This is a wonderful book. I love history, and even though I am not of German descent, my family dates back to pre Revolution days. I'm a new quilter and this is the perfect book for me. I love how it tells a story and is beautiful. Even making a panel or two challenges me and I want to make everything as historically correct as possible. The instructions are terrific. I think anyone interested in creating their own piece of beautiful treasure for their own home and has a taste for history, will love this book.
The 1776 Quilt

I ordered "The 1776 Quilt" for two reasons, I like to quilt and my ancestry is from Bautzen. My family the Wendlandt's are from that part of Sachsen, Germany. I was totally amazed at the author's ability to capture the details of the quilt and her daily journaling. I am also looking forward to reproducing some of the figures of the quilt. Great book.

As usual, I was very satisfied with my recent purchase, as I have been with ALL of my purchases. I have found items thru you that I have been told were out of print and not to be found. Keep up the great work.
