A PERFECT READ. Totally Involving. Loved the ending.

From the moment I picked up this extraordinary book, I simply could not (repeat: could not) put it down. It is a gripping page-turner, filled with suspense and non-stop excitement, but more, it is involving, inspirational, funny, sexy, thrilling, and more! The plot is never predictable. At the same time, it is always believable. The characters are engaging and delightful (There is a part of Sabbie in me and Gil reminded me of an old boyfriend I should never have let go). This book has short, exciting chapters which I like a lot and I particularly loved that the characters were never two-dimensional; intelligent, real people caught up an heart-pounding adventure. The story itself was new and fresh (not the same old rehash that many authors use). I must have sold five copies to my friends and family in the few days since I've finished the book. It's a perfect read all the way through and never disappoints. The sexual tension was great - couldn't wait to see what was finally going to happen. I adored the final chapter - a powerful, positive ending.

Totally involving, totally satisfying. Best book this year.

I loved this book. From page 1 it was totally involving and I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. It's the best book I've read this year (and I read a lot!) There's action and romance from the start and the twists and surprises kept me glued to the pages. I, too, really hated to see the story end and I, too, found the final scene to be amazing and incredibly uplifting. Great story!

A Thrilling Page-Turner

A thrilling page-turner. Full of surprises and some of the best plot twists I've seen in years. Original and absorbing. I could barely put the book down and was sorry when it ended, though it came to a powerful and brilliant conclusion. I've really enjoyed the Hellers' other books though, even if I had never read anything else by them, after this book, I'd be looking forward to their next novel. A terrific find.

I Liked This Book Alot! A Great Thriller!

I really enjoyed this book - from start to finish. The first page of the prologue grabbed me - I was in the action and felt like I was thrown back into history, like I was standing right in the middle of the action. When the story moved to present day in the first chapter, I felt like I had was there with Gil, waiting for Sabbie to show and for the old professor to reveal the secret. When Sabbie showed and the professor revealed, they were like real characters I have known and seen on the best of TV shows and movies. When the story flashed back to the time of Christ, it was terrific. This was what I have wanted in so many historical novels: excitement and realism and a chance to be there myself. These writers are very good. The story is full of thrills, twists, and page-turning tension. I hated to see it end but I really loved the ending, too.

I bought this book based on the Publishers Weekly review that said it was the authors "thrilling fiction debut." I would have settled for a pretty good book but found myself treated to a terrific thriller. I started it on Friday after work and my husband never saw me for two days (when I finished). Now he has it and can't put it down. I hope they have plans for another one like it.
