A new British PI
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 21 years ago
'That Which Doesn't Kill You' is the first in a very promising British PI series. The hero, Chris O'Brien, is similar to Robert B Parker's Spenser in a lot of ways (his way of speech/comments and observations etc). However, his 'Britishness' goes along way to stop him being a straight Spenser clone. The book is well written, fast paced and in parts very funny. The martial arts scenes (Wing Chun) are also handled pretty well. The only criticism I have is with the plot, which has no surprises and covers nothing new (but how many PI plots do?).All in all a good first novel. I'm looking forward to the follow up already!
