Anne Weale always writes novels that make you want to read the entire book at one sitting & Thai Silk is an excellent example; I finished it at 4 in the morning. Weale’s words paint a beautiful picture & you can almost feel the caresses the couples share. I loved the ending, middle & beginning & everything in between. I highly recommend all of Weale’s books especially Thai Silk.

Clarissa Hatfield age 27 was backpacking in Thailand, when a young woman Nina she had met in one of the hostels they were staying in got put in prison for having drugs on her, Nina asked Clary to help her. Clary called Nina's stepbrother Alistair Lincoln. He flies all the way to Thailand because he fell in love with Clary's voice. Of course he couldn't tell Clary that. But he did get his stepsister out of prison and proceeded to try to reform Nina. But it's going to take more that a stint in a Thai prison to make his spoiled stepsister to change. From the back of the book: 'She could at least try to help, Clary thought! After all, a fellow Briton in trouble in a strange land aroused a fellow feeling. Not that wealthy businessman Alistair Lincoln was particularly grateful to her for summoning him halfway across the world to bail out a stepsister who was no longer his responsibility. And, since Clary had chosen to interfere, he was quick to enlist her as an ally in dealing with the recalcitrant Nina. Clary, however, began to wonder as time went by whether it wasn't Alistair who presented her with the biggest problem...'
Educational, oddly enough

I might have to hunt down more in this harlequin "First Class" series, it seems to focus on world locations, at least this one did. It opened up and I was immediately reminded of Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, though while that was a comedy, this was alot more of a moral lesson. Clary is a 30something having only just found herself and curently backpacking around various islands (Thailand is the big place in this book) she stumbles across a fellow brit, a young girl, who ends up in a Thai prison. Clary, not wanting to abandon her countrywoman gives a call to the girl's older and estranged, VERY rich step-brother, Alistair. And enter romantic hero. The romance isn't the biggest theme in this book, which is why I had to give it a 4, it takes itself a little too seriously to be what I really want in a fluffy romance. The big thing is leaning and educating the reader abt Thailand. Which I found interesting, and only occasionaly too overt. Clary is a bit of a stick in the mud, and so I didn't find her as sympathetic as I would have liked. But overall a very enjoyable read, makes one want to travel a bit.
