The film was released March 12, 2012, and runs 142 minutes. The budget has been a total of $82 million. The final revenue was a staggering $691.2 million. It was very well received by the public, especially the young adults who had sympathized with the character of Katniss in the novel. The adaptation has also been nominated for a number of awards in different categories. Public opinion toward the adaptation has been positive and takes the adaptation to be one successful text to film adaptation.
