Texas Surrender

The Circle R Ranch means everything to Avery Dalton. When Charlie, the ranch owner, dies Avery tries running the ranch on his own. However, he soon realizes that he'll need help. JD Reed is Charlie's nephew. He came to Texas to pay respects to his uncle, but once he gets a look at Avery his dream of being a chef in New York gets put on hold for a while. JD introduces Avery to a lifestyle of submission that Avery never knew he craved, except JD has plans to move on. Texas Surrender is about more than BDSM fetishes. JD and Avery's story has substance and their passion knows no boundaries. Avery really blossoms under JD's firm but loving hand. His attempts to deny his desires are genuine, but futile. Watching him try creates many heartfelt moments between them. JD becomes vulnerable too when he starts to wonder how Avery really feels about him. There is a lot of give and take, both emotionally and physically between Avery and JD as they sort through it all. While Avery learns about his sexual desires, JD is experiencing an emotional connection with someone for the first time. It unnerves him. Texas Surrender is a heartfelt, erotic story with some kink. A journey worth making**

4.5 Star Bad luck comes in three, at least that's how the saying goes - but sometimes there is a deal breaker. When JD Reed had a run of bad luck first with his job, then with his current lover and to top it off - a personal lose, he thought how much worst can this get. It can get worse or it can get really better if the eye candy that is Avery Dalton the man on his aunts ranch is any thing to go by. JD is a member of the BDSM lifestyle and he knows what he want and how to go about getting what he wants, the one thing he is not up for however is forcing someone to do something that they are not willing to do. Caught between a rock and a hard place in helping his aunt with the ranch when his uncle dies and getting on with his life, JD - knows it was going to be difficult because no matter how hard the life of a chef was, the manually labour of farm work is an entirely different matter. Looking at Avery makes JD days bearable, but Avery was not about to play nice when there was work to be done. JD knows what he wants and he also knows that Avery needs what he wants even if he doesn't know it yet. Avery Dalton the ranch hand who has seen more life than he care to talk about is in an unsure position, with not knowing what will happen to his job and his home. When he meets JD, all it meant to him was just another person to waste his time and as a relative he would be the boss of the spread for the duration. The JD that he built up in his mind and the JD that he got for the next two mornings are two totally different people and JD is not about to make Avery forget it. Avery does not know if he is ready for what JD is offering and he can't resist as JD seems to know him better than he even know himself, but life for the two was more than just about who tied who to the bed at nights and this is where the true problem lays If you are looking for an author that takes the time with not only a plot, but characters and a built up - Claire Thompson is one author I can say for a fact give a try. When I started this book I knew there was going to be BDSM material in there somewhere, the story starts off immediately with a angsty moment. A few pages later in and I went through a whole range of emotions surprises, regret for circumstances, sorrow for a lose, that panicky feeling of uncertainty and the shuddering feel of that first look, that first touch - that idea that something big was about to happen and I could not stop it. This was how much of this authors talent came through in this book. She put two men before me, JD Reed with his quite confidence and take charge attitude, who was wanting to do the right thing but knows he has a life he needs to carve out for himself - mix that in with him wanting someone so much yet even in his certainty he is unsure of his reception. Then there is Avery, I fell for Avery for his name and he did not let me down. Avery is in his own eyes a self made man, from the moment he could do for himself he has worked h

Hot, Sweet Cowboy Love

Melissa's Review: Claire Thompson's Texas Surrender is one of the hottest and most touching cowboy books I have ever read. As always, Claire brings her characters to life with her unique talent of creating unbelievably realistic characters. She takes the time to get up close and personal with them, which gives me the chance to become even more attached. I loved Avery in all of his stubbornness and vulnerability. He broke my heart more than once in this book. I enjoyed witnessing his journey from ranch hand with a low opinion of himself to a proud man who could hold his head high. JD was the perfect match for Avery, just what Avery needed to let go of the pain from his past. JD exuded power and sexuality, and demanded submission from Avery. Their developing relationship was intense and emotionally charged. Claire Thompson's insight and knowledge of the BDSM lifestyle is evident in the developing of Avery and JD, and their budding relationship. I always love her explanations of the dynamics of the BDSM relationship, and the dawning understanding and acceptance of the characters involved. If you have never read a Claire Thompson book, then Texas Surrender is the perfect place to start. And, if you are a seasoned fan of Claire Thompson, you will surely not be disappointed by her newest release. Rated 5 Delightful Divas by Melissa!

BDSM at its finest!

Claire Thompson does it again. In my opinion, she outdid herself with Texas Surrender--it is definitely my new favorite. To quote a line from the book, this story is "hotter than a fresh jalapeño." I was enthralled from beginning to end; I could not put the book down. I got the tingles, and you can't give a book a better recommendation that. View this review in its entirety - [...]

YAY! A Cowboy BDSM Romance! Hot Diggety Dog!

I never thought I'd see the day when Claire Thompson, the mistress of high-falutin' cerebral BDSM, would come out with a cowboy novel, but all I can say is, "YIPEE YI YO!" This is one hot book. Hold onto your cowboy hats because she does not disappoint. Not that she ever does, but this felt real, poignant, funny, hot, tender. As corny as it sounds, I laughed and I cried. She really caught the vulnerability of Avery, the tough guy ranch hand who tries to hold out against the onslaught of JD Reed's dominant affections. It's good, folks. It's terrific. Right up there in my heart with Golden Boy and Accidental Slave. Now my only question is - when's the sequel! LOL!
