Beloved author Kelton brings together two novels that tell the story of the Texas Revolution as seen by two brothers who emigrate to Texas at a time when the Mexican-controlled province welcomes settlers.
This book brings together two novels written in 1965 and 1967 which feature two brothers, Thomas and Joshua Buckalew, who come from Tennessee when Texas is still ruled by Mexico and wanting American settlers to occupy the land. The novel Massacre at Goliad features the real incident which happened about the time of the siege of the Alamo. The other, After the Bugles, continues the story on the battle field at San Jacinto where the Mexican army was defeated. For a fuller description of these two novels see my reviews of them.
