"You mean she isn't going to walk the plank?" As soon as Terry's mom mentions sending her to boarding school to "spread her wings," Terry takes matters into her own hands and catches a ride out of... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This was a very cute, quick read. The premise was charmingly ludicrous, but made for a funny and exciting adventure. Terry decides the best way to spread her wings is to stow away on the local millionaire's boat. She didn't count on the owner's son having the same idea. Then a hurricane leaves her on an island with the oddest of company including the world's largest living lizard and a group of modern day pirates. The characters are refreshingly funny. I especially loved Mick, a stuttering American teenager who doubles with a smooth talking French marquis from the fourteenth century. What really makes this book though, is the hilarious plot, in which Terry and Mick form a plan to escape the greedy pirates. A good book to read in one sitting.

Terry and the Pirates is a fantastic book. It is really, really funny. The funny stuff comes when you don't expect it and that makes it even more fun. I think this book should be done in a film as an animated comic book. I'd go to see it over and over.
