Book Overview

It's another awful year at Bathory High for Vladimir Tod. The evil vampire D'Ablo is hunting for the ritual that could steal Vlad's powers. His best friend doesn't want to be his drudge anymore. And it's getting harder for Vlad to resist feeding on the people around him. When months go by with no word from Uncle Otis, and D'Ablo shows up demanding Vlad's father's journal, Vlad realizes that having a normal high school year is the least of his concerns...

Finally a way to get my 13yr old to read

This is the first series of books that my son has read from cover to cover and now can't wait for the next book. He has me preorder is it is available

slow start

This book starts off a little slower than the other two, my sons says, but I told him to not give up and give it a little more time. He is loving it now. It was a little mushy in the begining. (My son is 11) The action is on now and he loves to read it when he can.

I could not put it down!

Dang, what a great installment to this series. I honestly read it it pretty much one sitting. It was such a fantastic read!! Just a fast summary: Vald is now in 10th grade, and still is coming to terms with being a vampire, as if being a teen isn't hard enough. He just wants to be left alone to learn the ropes to being a vampire. The sad thing is, Vald gets anything but left alone. It seems that the vampire council wants to bring him into their courts and have him face charges. They just don't get anyone to bring him in, but they get Ignatius. He's told to bring Vald in, and if Ignatius want to smack him around a bit, well that's okay by them. Just bring him in alive, even if it's just barely. Things get worse when an old enemy comes back into his life. Vald also has to face an impossible truth, someone at his school knows he's a vampire, and wants to expose him, at all costs. To make matters worse, Vald's best friend, Henry, and human drudge, doesn't want to be Vald's slave anymore. He wants to be free of Vald's control, and his friendship. At one point, all of the Goth's at his school want to be his friend, and draw them into their world. That was a really neat part of the book, it was very interesting. I love how Brewer keeps making Vald an interesting character and keeps developing him. That's the sigh of a fantastic author! I can't wait for the next book to come out. If you know Brewer, tell her to get the next book out as fast as she can. Never mind those pesky human habits of eating, drinking, sleeping or having a life. :O)= (That's my vampire smily face) Just keep writing the books! This is such a great series. Start with the first one, and enjoy the ride. I know I am.

TENTH GRADE BLEEDS takes readers on the continuing adventures of a young vampire named Vladimir (Vlad) Tod. Vlad is different than most vampires. He was born a vampire instead of created. Since the death of his parents - vampire father and human mother - he's been living with his aunt. There have been some bumpy times, but with the help of his vampire uncle and his best friend and drudge, Henry, he's survived his first year in high school and is about to begin his second. The previous years have held some challenges for Vlad, but his tenth grade year is threatening to reveal some of the more potentially serious vampire issues. Uncle Otis headed off on his own adventures; however, Vlad wasn't really worried about his absence since the two have a mental connection that allows them to easily communicate. Otis isn't gone very long when Vlad discovers that the comforting communication seems to be missing. Now he doesn't have a clue where Otis is or how to get in touch with him. Another new challenge is Henry. Their best friend relationship seems a bit strained. Henry finally admits his desire to be released as Vlad's drudge. First of all, is it possible? Secondly, can Vlad survive without the support and protection offered by a vampire's drudge? The scariest change in book three is the fact that Vlad is beginning to have urges more typical of vampires. His blood supply has always come courtesy of his aunt's access to the blood bank at the hospital where she works, but he now is finding that the sweet scent of live human blood may be a temptation he might be unable to resist. Combine these immediate concerns with continued problems from distant vampire councils, and Vlad may have more than he can handle. As evidence mounts that he might, in fact, be Pravus, life as a one-of-a-kind vampire is quickly turning dangerous. Heather Brewer has joined the legions of authors writing vampire tales, but THE CHRONICLES VLADIMIR TOD series has many twists and turns that make it unique and will have teens excited to read each upcoming book.
