This book is a must-have for telecommunications professionals. It covers topics ranging from telecom history to the lastest technologies including wireless and Voice Over IP. For the novice, this book is written in a simple to understand format that you can learn complex topics in minutes. Clear, precise and straightforward

If you are a non-technical person (I am a lawyer, with zero mathematical or engineering background) and looking for a place to begin learning about telecommunications technologies, here's the book. I had gone through at least a half-dozen "basic" telecom technology books, and found that they would invariably lapse into techno-speak; creating large gaps in my understanding of the subject matter. Not so here. The author is very patient with his readers. When a concept is important, he says so, takes his time, and uses good examples from the everyday world (i.e. analogies to travel agents) to help bring his readers along.

This book gave me basic and general informations about various "Telecommunication Protocols". The way the content is laid out and the way the Author approached each topic make the book easy reading and easy understanding. It is enjoyable to read a book like this. Thanks to the Mr. Russell for writing such a good book.

Outstanding

I am a network engineer for a wireless company and I would like to note that Mr. Russell's books are very outstanding and helpful. It gave me a very good understanding regarding telecommunications protocols and among other things. It had helped with me my job funtions, and enable me to share these knowledge to my fellow engineers.
