Easy read, VERY helpful book

I bought TEENS TALK ABOUT FEAR for my teenage son (15) who is having problems at home and school since we moved to MN from NJ. Our son has not adapted, hasn't made friends and is terrified to try. His grades dropped drastically, he withdrew almost completely, and we didn't know where to start, and to be honest, didn't think a book would be much help.I found the book's web site where they listed all the chapters and saw "fear of being the new kid," "fear of change", and several other fears that sounded exactly like what we were going through. I'm a skeptic by nature, so I didn't really hold out much hope, but this book has made a HUGE impact on our son, and in turn, our family in general. We're not Christians, so when I started reading the book, even though I was okay with the scriptures, I wasn't sure how Zach would be. Turns out, that didn't bother him at all, it's just really good advice regardless of the source. And the kids (teens) in the book talking to each other seemed to be the most powerful thing in the book . . . I actually saw Zach using the journal section, although he won't let me read it, that's ok. The fact that he's thinking about how to get better, and writing down his thoughts, well, I'm very encouraged.I highly recommend this book to parents of teens (or even preteens) who are struggling with any of the issues it covers. It's very "hip" to today's teens and won't turn them off, while giving them good, solid advice. Thumbs up!

A Parent's Dream!

I heard the authors during a radio interview and thought to myself "if this book is half as good as it sounds, I'm ordering a copy for both my teen AND my tween!" It is better than I ever could have imagined! It helped open my eyes to some of the behavior/attitude problems I've seen in both my children and given me some great insight on how to help them. My teen has started the book and he loves it. I heard the authors say that the book reads like a chatroom, and that's exactly how my son described it. I think that's why it held his attention long enough for him to get interested in it.Thank you for offering this inspirational book! It's going to make a big difference in our family.

Teens Talk About Fear.

The timing for this book is so right- what with all the fear in the hearts of people today. I think Rhonda and Renee have hit on the pulse of today's teens. The book not only has questions from teens, but also teens giving advice from their point of view. I also like the way the authors incorporated what the Bible has to say about the questions.I truly recommend this book, not only for teens but for peoples of all ages. I think this book will be a great source of information and comfort. I regret I didn't have a book of this caliber when I was a teen, but I will get this book for my grandchildren.

A "must have" for teens & parents

A great book for teens and parents. The first parts of each chapter is a creative way to draw the kids in -- it's teens talking to other teens about their fears and how they've dealt with them. Then the advice and journal section (in each chapter) is great to get the reader involved. The chapters are laid out by category (i.e. fear of being alone, fear of failure, fear of rejection, etc.) so it's easy to scan and find the chapter (s) that apply to you/your teen. It's a "must have" for parents (and grandparents) of teens -- and read it FIRST. It's a great way to start a conversation with your teen. Excellent gift idea.
