perfect for the artist/ art historian

A practicing artist and lover of art history, this is one of my favorites in a large and ever-growing collection of such books. In this work, famous paintings are broken down using x-rays and cross-sections, showing the step-by-step process used by reknowned masters of art. It is useful both in mimicing style and technique in one's own work as well as for insight into the work of the artist on the part of the art historian. Definitely recommended to anyone interested in the visual arts.
