I agree with the rest of the reviewers...

I read this book back in Feb. 96, and was an excelent start for visual programming. Now after reading Beginning Visual C++ 4, by Ivor Horton and Programming Windows 95 With MFC, by Jeff Prosise I still think is a great book for beginners. By the way if you are starting to program C++ read all three books!!!

A good beginning book

I had read several books before this, and this one was by far the easiest to follow. It took me step by step through simple constructions. I liked the examples used for adding pre-built modules. It's pretty cool to build your own software CD player I think. The author's approach of using dialog driven programs was a refreshing change from all of the books trying to dump SDI and MDI concepts on a beginner all at once

Excellent book for how to - generate windows applications

Step by step instructions on how to create a dialog based or mulitple documents applications. I recommend this book to anyone who is not femilier with creating a windows applications and dlls

A very good way for Visual C++ first steps

Although it lacks explanations in depth about code, this book is a good way to start learning about object-oriented tools.Gurewich's focus here, instead of teaching code,is to show the high potential of Microsoft Case tool, in order to easily - and timely - build powerful object-oriented applications. Be careful with some code errors in chapter 10 - but it doesn't impair the whole book. It is strongly recommended for beginners

THE BEST WAY TO START IN VISUAL C++

This is the best beginners book on Microsoft Visual C++ that I know of. It's especially valuable if you are interested in writing basic applications that don't use a lot of the fancier features of MFC. When you get done, you'll be feel pretty comfortable writing MDI applications. I really appreciated the simple approach to the development of libraries, DLL's, and OLE containers. You'll probably want other books after this one, but I think you'll be sorry if you don't begin here
