Good book for those who already know Visual Basic and Pascal
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 25 years ago
If you already know Turbo/Object Pascal and Visual Basic, this is an excellent starting point. This book will give you an overview of the capabilities and power of Delphi as well as general information on Windows basics such as DLL's and threads. It does not, however, serve as your step-by-step tutorial on Pascal or Delphi (If you're looking for it--go see the online documentation).
Good Beginner Book

I found this book to be helpful as a way to learn a little about everything in Delphi. I realize that a book would have to be several thousand pages to cover all that Delphi does, so I knew this was a 'taste' of it. It was much better written than the documentation form Borland. I would recommend this book as a way to 'get going' with delphi. Sam's should have included the source code on disk/CD-ROM, but I found it at ftp://ftp.mcp.com/pub/sams/books/TYDELPHI2/tde2src.zip, and that helped
The best book from the beginners

I have read this book.I think it's best fit for the beginners who wants to learn how to program useing Delphi 2. To me I am a Network administrator.I can program in VC++2.0, VB4.0,etc.But I hadn't use the Delphi before I read this book.I had studied Pascal in University. But when I was in job,I thought Pascal was a very good education language, not a good developing language. So I used C++ or VB to program. But after I read this book,I changed my mind.I found using Pascal,I could write very usefull codes. It's easier than VC and stronger than VB,espacially in Database. The book I had read three times, and now I could write codes to develope our database.I hope more and more people to read this book. It's very help for in your job. Ever tried to learn how to program?? Ever give up on trying to learn how to program before you made it to chapter 4? Even if you havent had the difficulties that I have, in my quest to be one of the most dangerous people alive (a programmer, of any sort. 8-) ) You will still enjoy, YES i said ENJOY! reading (and oh ya learning) from this great book. I think its still going to take me 21 Weeks to learn delphi completely... But.. im almost there.. This book is very down to earth.. Easy to follow (no more reading the same sentance 2500 times, just to understand it) And will keep you interested, I actually stayed up until midnight, because i couldnt put the book down.. ahhahaha, besides that saying that i am a very sad individual... It also says that the book is very engaging...Enjoy and good luck..
