The ideal grammar guide for beginners or intermediate students of Russian, and the perfect complement to other language learning tools. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I am a beginning/intermediate student of Russian, although I have studied many other languages before trying to take on Russian. Along the way, I have learned a lot about what constitutes a good reference book for a language. This one is not quite perfect, there are a few typos. These are very few, but unfortunately, one major one is a chapter title (Chapter 15 should be "Instrumental singular" but instead is titled "Instrumental irregular"). Otherwise, it is a well constructed, wonderfully clear, and very useful book. As an added benefit, each point of grammar is explained on a single page, then followed on the next page by directed excercises (with answers in the back of the book) that allow one to learn the specific topic. I am still pursuing my study of Russian and have found it a useful reference all along the way. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. If you want to find a clear way out of the maze of Russian, as it appears to a beginner, (or even an intermediate student -- do you understand how "open" versus "closed" conditions are expressed), this book is a very good starting point. I use it all the time.
