Honest and straightforward advice...

What this book offers is a no nonsense WYSIWYG look at web design. The chapters are succint and ordered well. The information is clear, concise and easily understood. Most important, positives and negatives about products, or more appropriately, some supposedly "must have" products that are just assumed to be needed for a novice, are presented carefully but with concern for the reader, ensuring that the reader doesn't drop a mint on what can be gotten for free (or a whole lot less). I definitely recommend this book for someone new to web design. It will take you far, probably much further than you'd think for something difficult like web design. I would go so far as to say that this book over-delivers on its promised "basic website creation" title; I find that it delves much deeper than just "basic" and produces a genuine understanding of the process which allows the reader a true understanding of the concepts and the ability to actually get out there and do it, design a webpage or website.
