Yes, I know, TEATIME STORIES FOR WOMEN was obviously written for a female reading audience. So what was I doing reading this book? My mother in law had to go to the hospital and I went to get her a card and something to read. This looked interesting, so I picked it up. When I got up to her room to relieve my wife so she could go home for a breather, I found my mother in law a wee bit too medicated to read, so I started reading the book to her. After about 10 pages, she slipped back into her drug-induced dreamland and by then, the book had already captured my interest. This book reminds me a lot of the "Chicken Soup" series of books, only this one comes with an empahsis on Christian living. The book contains 11 chapters each covering different topics such as Encouragement, Children, Laughter, and Grief. Each topic has 4 - 8 personal accounts ranging from 2 to 10 pages each. I found the stories that I read (about half of them), to be very well written and each one begins with a Bible verse and ends with a Prayer. The book has stories from over 40 different authors and there is a brief paragraph about each author at the the endnotes.

Because mothers are some of the busiest women in the world, time for reading, relaxing and refreshment can be in short supply. When I picked up this compilation, "Tea Time Stories for Mothers," by Linda Evans Shepherd, I knew I'd found the perfect solution. Filled with short narratives, written by a host of mothers, this book is ideal for the coffee table, or the nightstand. It offers a winning combination of inspiration, hope and humor--something every mother needs. I highly recommend this book.
I made a mistake not buying it.

My friend bought this book because I was a bit to reluctant to buy it. Before I could change my mind and spend $13 on it she had it up at the cashier. On the way home I wanted to know what it was like so she read me the first story. It was so neat the way God had answered the writer's prayers. Now I want to buy it. Anyway, this book is full of short stories by various authors about how God answered their prayers. This book is great.
This would make a wonderful gift!

This is a wonderful book of short essays on topics that really matter to women--family, friendship, faith, forgiveness. The tone of the book is uplifting and encouraging. And the exceptional design of the book would make it a perfect gift for a special woman in your life. It would also make a great starting point for personal devotions, as each essay begins with a scripture and ends with a short prayer.
