Excellent TCP/IP

I am the Technical Editor of this book. Gary did an incredible job. This book contains the clearest and most accurate description on subnetting I've ever seen. I felt the book was clear and sharp all the way through. The reason I am writing this review is because of the comments I have read. This is not a beginners book! It is written at the expert level. The only level higher than this book is a TCP/IP design book which includes enterprise TCP/IP supernetting and does not include things like DHCP and WINS. Gary did a terrific job and I am proud to be associated with this book. D Fuller A+,Net+,I-Net+,MCP,MCT,MCSE+I,CNA,CCNA

Very useful book!

After coming off a Linux binge (where everyone seems to enjoy telling you how things function but not how to make them WORK), it was nice to find a TCP/IP book that gave CORRECT step-by-step instructions on how to do something with netware OR NT. I wasn't even sure what DHCP *did* before I read this book. After, I set up a DHCP server that works great in only 15 minutes. It is not a beginners book. It assumes you are already quite familiar with the basics. If you've never installed NT, or never worked with netware, or have never even heard of DNS, find an intro book first. After you've dinked with that for a few weeks, get this one. This is the first book that I've read which really explained what the heck a netmask really was and how to use it, in a way I could understand and hold in my head.Recommended.

A true awesome guide to your TCP/IP Network

The author explains every little step you need to know on how to get your network optimized and configured. It's nice to finaly see a book that doesn't only cover NT or Novell or Unix, but covers all at once. With true stories from real administrators you'll always find something to relate to your site. A must read !
