While there is not necessarily a downtown designated area of Tbilisi-everything is more or less in the city's center-there is definitely a downtown-minded crew of designers. One name to know in that set is Tamara Kopaliani. Her clothes are a reflection of how young women are dressing in the nightlife-crazed city with exposed midriffs and a whole lot of leg. Like many millennial designers, she often cites the aughts as an influence. For this collection, many of that era's references were too overt-although the DIY safety pins looping from the front of the upper-thigh to the back pocket were fun.Kopaliani has a way with making simple pieces eye-catching with her attention to detail. A pair of kicky pants had a 2-inch piece of fabric that squarely flared out at the shin-a detail that smartly cut the cheekiness of the thong-baring cut-outs on the hips. She knows the relevance of branding, too: Kopaliani covered a pair of royal blue flares with her circular, trippy logo.
