This book is the best way to learn task analysis for occupational therapists. It is more of a learn-by-doing text. There are short instructional passages followed by questions and exercises applying the information. Questions range from "did you read the material" type to "research and think carefully" types. Exercises are generally complex. The first part of the book provides basic task analysis instruction and the second part provides applications across the lifespan. The case studies and follow-up exercises are excellent. You really feel like you know your "patient" from the readings. Students that are accustomed to read-and-repeat are going to be challenged in reasoning. The drawbacks to the book are: paperback cover is not sturdy enough, sometimes sketchy presentation of information, no teacher's guide, and the assignments can work students to overload very easily. Overall, it is a challenging book in a friendly format.
