Hailed as a "must-have" by the upperclassmen in my medical school, I dutifully bought the Pocket Pharmacopeia. When it came time for me to start working in the clinics and seeing patients, I crammed it in my pocket with my other 10 "pocket-sized" reference manuals and marched off to clinic. In the first week I used this book so much that it was already a little dog-eared. By the end of the semester it was exhausted. The pharmacopeia is a VERY EFFICIENT reference for nearly everything a physician needs to know when prescribing medications; usage, dosage, pregnancy category, metabolism and excretion and more. It is also chock full of useful tables, including therapeutic drug levels, a "rule of 9's" chart, and pediatric dosing tables. Any med student or resident who gets "pimped" on drug questions can sneak a peek in their pocket for the answer. I have some other drug references, but this is by far the most all-encompassing for the size. I highly recommend it.
