great book

this book is wonderful. its a nice small book, but the reason im giving it only 4 stars, is because i would have liked to see all ww2 tanks and vehicles in that book. unlike the airplane book that he wrote titled aircraft of ww2 which has every plane from ww2, this book on tanks is incomplete of them all.

Great Book, Great Price

An excellent book in great condition. Super fast shipping. What more could you ask??

One-Stop Shopping Guide to WWII Tanks & AFVs!

Tanks fascinate me almost as much as military airplanes. This compact (6 1/2" x 4 3/4") volume by author Jim Winchester offers a guided tour of WWII Allied and Axis tanks and armored fighting vehicles. Sub-titled 'The World's Greatest Military Vehicles, 1939-1945,' Winchester's book describes 74 tanks and AFVs ranging from M3 Lees to Puma armored cars, Churchill AVREs to LVT-4 amphibious tractors, 'Whirlwind' flakpanzers to Semovente DA 75/18 self-propelled guns, 'Ram Kangaroo' personnel carriers to BM-13 Katyusha truck-mounted rocket systems, etc. The book generally devotes four pages to each vehicle with certain tanks (M-4, Tiger, Cromwell, etc.) getting more coverage. Each vehicle is illustrated by a well-captioned color three-view and two or more photos, including color shots. The accompanying narrative gives brief development and combat history along with a stand-alone tech specs summary. TANKS AND ARMORED FIGHTING VEHICLES OF WORLD WAR II is just what it appears to be: a nice, pocket-sized, short and sweet intro to by-gone metal monsters that went clank in the night (and day). As a Barnes & Noble Remainder Table selection, you can probably pick up a copy for $3.00-$5.00. It would make a great Christmas stocking stuffer for armor fans!
