Oh What Tangeled Webs We Weave!

This was a very engaging read. The main characters were all quite likable. This book really explored relationships: husband/wife, mother/daughter, male/female friendships. The story is really about love, second chances, redemption and forgiveness. It's a quick read, but an engrossing one. One note, however---I don't know why this book was tagged as a BWWM interracial novel. There is a back story (and there are several back stories) involving an affair that Jewel's grandmother had with a white man (who is a Lord) in London when she was young--this affair resulted in the birth of Jewel's mother, Eloise. And, although the love between the grandmother and Lord Arthur endured throughout the years, this is NOT the main focus of the story. The main story revolves around the romantic relationships and friendships between African Americans. Even though I was disappointed that the book was erroneously tagged as an IR, I found it to be a very enjoyable read.

Finding Love at Luciano's

This was a wonderful read about two not-so-different people. There's Kaylee, a bookstore owner, very dedicated to her business and then there's Luciano, a hot restaurant owner, also very dedicated to his business. Kaylee and her friends spend every Friday night at Luciano's just hanging out and enjoying themselves. Luciano and his cousin Nico are very attentive to Kaylee and her friends. Kaylee stops fighting her attraction to Luciano and decides to go after him. Luciano is very attracted to Kaylee and is more than happy to begin a "sex only" relationship with Kaylee, since that's all she's willing to give. The two fight their growing attraction to each other, even fighting the love growing between them because of actions by her mother and his father, which they strongly feel they will repeat in their own lives. In the end, love wins out of course but not without both of them self-examining themselves. I really enjoyed this book and hope Ms. Nyrae writes about the other characters.
