Tangled Up in Blue is love story of three people bound together by ties of love, passion, and friendship until a crisis threatens to destroy them all.
Maggie Sullivan's accidental discovery that her husband Daniel has taken the AIDS test leads to a devastating confession: Before he met and married Maggie, Daniel had been lovers with Crockett, a gay man who is now Maggie's closest friend. Reeling from a sense of betrayal...
All of Duplechan's work are creative and thought provoking, and this one follows that same mode. This work is about friendship. A seemingly straight actor, who is a lawyer, becomes friend with a gay man, who has a crush on him. Fate brought them together as the actor decides to do a play, and the director encourages the actors to spend time together, learning each other. This friendship becomes a sexual relationship. After the sex ends, the friendship survives, and the gay lover of the past also becomes friends with the woman, the actor marries. Revelations about the actor's past comes to light while his wife is pregnant, and she must find a way to process all of this and decide what to do about her marriage. It is fascinating how Duplechan puts characters in interesting positions, where decisions are dificult.
