Tales of the Treasure Coast

The territory of Florida during the mid-1700's was a frontier for the English and Spanish who migrated fro across the Atlantic Ocean in order to establish their form of life, both religious and governmental, with little regard for the natives who already occupied the land. This is not simply another book about shipwrecks and sunken treasure. It is a book primarily concerned with Native Americans and African Slaves...a story-book about the survival of a young slave who finds himself on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean after surviving a shipwreck during the height of a hurricane. He is taken-in by the Ais Tribe, one of the last remaining original tribes of Florida of whom a generation later will disappear. The remaining tribes of the southeastern continent will fill this vacuum left by the original tribes as they are pushed further and further west and south into the territory of the Florida Peninsula. There, they will assimilate with run-away slaves and thus create, the Seminole Tribe.
