I just finished Tales of the Broken Moon, and I LOVED it! It doesn't take long to get attached to Bean and get caught up in the path his little feet have found him walking on. If you're looking for a great book with charm and suspense, this is a great book for you!
What can I say?

Honestly, what can I say? I've been a big fan of Bean's Song from practically day one... through it's early conception as a web comic to it's comic book expansion to it's now final and rightful place as a novel. This fantasy style series finally allows the incredible world of the Brokenmoon to expand far beyond where it couldn't in the previous formats and boldly explores it's wonderful mysteries with greater depth! On top of that, even if you're absolutely clueless to the story or the mysterious world it resides in and don't want to take my biased opinion to heart... no worries! You soon won't be once you read it yourself! Travis Hanson's astounding eye-candy black and white art and Aimee Duncan's detailed descriptive writing instantly weaves the tale of the boy named Bean for you! So, pull up a seat my friend, sit next to the warm cozy fire and drink an ale or two... before you know it... you'll be in a magical drift and craving more!
Fantastic art and story

I started this book thinking it'd be a good read for the next couple weeks or so, but by the third chapter the story had built up so much momentum that I couldn't put it down and finished it in one weekend. The illustrations were amazing- I often found myself just studying the pictures, admiring the detail. The authors did a great job on their first novel and I am impatiently awaiting the next installment. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy and is looking to get hooked on a new epic.
Hurry up with number 2

What a cool book. Goblins, trolls, pixies, fights, gren-els, incredibly detailed caves, and lumbering cuffys. Aimee's writing does a great job complementing Travis' art and the black-and-white drawings are amazing. My favorite is on page 122. This is the first in a series titled "Tales of the Broken Moon." I don't know when the next is due out but I'll have a copy as soon as it does. The beginning is a little slow but in a story like this, there are many characters to introduce along with new creatures, settings, plots, and sub-plots. Thankfully the back of the book has a very detailed glossary which even includes some things that were not in this first book, as if to wet your appetite for the next. The maps are creatively done and there are subtle but significant things in the drawings. I suggest looking over the pictures a second time after reading the book. I found myself flipping back frequently while I was reading. The great thing about this story is that the pictures really are part of the story. The end of this book leaves you hanging and quite a suspenseful moment in the evolution of several characters. Kids and adults alike will enjoy this book. I am eager to see how Aimee Duncan and Travis Hanson evolve as a story telling team.
Prepare for an adventure

The World of the Broken Moon will draw you in. Travis Hanson and Aimee Duncan create a unique world in which the story unfolds. Much like Middle-Earth, Narnia, Alagaesia, and Krynn, Broken Moon has it's own rules, unique peoples, and places. Not just your typical AD & D Fanstasy, the characters have unique personalities and interactions with each other and the world in which they live. Much like Lloyd Alexander's Prydain Chronicles, the 'Boy Hero', Bean, comes from humble beginnings. The story follows him on his (unexpected) quest. If you love fantasy, than you will love the World of Brokenmoon. Truly, an original blend of well-written fantasy and unique art style. Kudos to Hanson and Duncan. Left me waiting anxiously for more.
