How is this legal?

This book has pretty good adaptations of Poe's stories for younger readers, but I searched it cover to cover and couldn't find any mention of the fact that they were originally written by Poe. The book says that the stories are "Retold by Tony Allan," but there is no mention about who originally told them, which is obviously (to me, at least) Edgar Allan Poe. I was just wondering why they made no mention of him, since the stories are obviously not written by Tony Allan.
