history in the making

There are a few things we remember in our lives as they were happening: Oswald being shot by Ruby on live TV, the Watergate hearings, the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal, 9/11. One of those events, indelibly, were the hearings before Congress where Oliver North became a living legend. The scandal is relatively tame in retrospect, but the one inescapable element of the whole drama was Oliver North's testimony, word-for-word, before Congress. This book is a historical treasure. Combined with the indispensable CNN video "His Story" this book captures the actual events in all their mind-blowing drama. Oliver North turned the tables on the Congressional committee that was expressly formed to defame him and criminalize policy differences between the President and these Congressmen. This was, literally, the biggest lions Congress ever amassed to skewer a Presidential aide. Nields, Liman, Inouye, Hamilton, etc. against Oliver North and, when he was allowed, Brendan Sullivan. No one remembers any of those accusing North (excepting Hamilton's feeble reprise in his failed commission to indict Dubya with the Iraq Study Group) but North and Sullivan are forever enshrined in the American people's hearts thanks to these days in July of 1987. This book captures every amazing word. It is a brilliant testament to the power of a patriot's heart and soul. Read every word and savor the amazing events as they actually transpired.
