Book Overview

The, te, cha, chai--tea is a universal beverage. It links the solemnity of the Japanese tea ceremony and the sustaining high tea of British school children; it can be green or black, fragrant or smoky. To take tea at The Savoy is to combine tradition with all the elegance and sophistication that befits one of London's great hotels. Anton Edelmann, The Savoy's Maitre Chef des Cuisines, offers exquisite recipes with tales that conjure up leisure time in a bygone era, set against the romantic story of tea and its journey to the West. Here is afternoon tea at its most stylish--aromatic brews, delicate porcelain, impeccably presented dainties. Indulge in feather-light palmiers or cinnamon madeleines. Savor delicate cucumber sandwiches or fragrant honey and ham biscuits for an al fresco summer tea, or luscious cakes to chase away winter doldrums. Taking Tea at the Savoy is a book to inspire endless afternoons of delight.

A true Treasure

This cookbook has quickly moved to my top 10 favorites in the kitchen. The receipes are simple and straight forward. Food that can quickly be cooked before a nice cup of tea. I have cooked my way through the cookbook and haven't found a receipe I didn't enjoy. Of course the scone receipe has been cooked the most. A true treasure in the kitchen.

Awesome!

I actually bought this for a friends b-day present and ended up keeping it for myself and getting him another one, I looked through it and realized that it was packed with so many delicate yet simple recipes, even a delicious doughnut section.it's not a big book, but the info is. Enjoy;)

a perfect guide for this quintessential British pleasure

There could hardly be a better person to write about the indulgence of a stylish afternoon tea than the chef of the legendary London Savoy Hotel, Anton Edelmann. And he presents, accompanied by beautiful pictures, the best recipes for different savouries to start with, recipes for scones (with 5 different variations) but also cakes, biscuits and pastries. Edelmann provides a perfect guide for this quintessential British pleasure.

Tea time's a pleasure!

I saw Anton Edelmann and his lovely book on the Martha Stewart Show. They made lovely, yet simple treats and made my mouth water. I was so taken, I've bought two already, and will most likely buy more as gifts.

Like Being Back in London!

What a marvelous little book. Having had the honor to actually take tea at the Savoy (about a year ago), this book has let me relive that afternoon all over again. The recipes for the scrumptuous treats and goodies I remember are all there. I can't wait to turn loose in the kitchen and recreate that great afternoon. If you have ever had a proper British high tea, or wonder what one is like, this book can help bring the moment to life.
