Hero discovers love is better than revenge

At first heroine Bella in India Gray's novel Taken for Revenge, Bedded for Pleasure is just a little too flakey. To suppress her anxieties and insecurities she mentally chants about blue skies and sandy beaches. Fortunately, a better personality shines through within a chapter or so. Bella comes from an influential British family. She is loyal and repressed. Every once in a while her fiery nature comes through but not until she meets Frenchmen Oliver does her metamorphosis become complete. Oliver and Bella's family has a long past filled with anger, resentment and unbelievably true love. But love is not what Oliver is seeking from Bella, he wants revenge and he means to get it by seducing Bella and then unceremoniously dumping her. However, he does not count on actually liking her and then respecting her too. Author India Grey has really penned a charming character in Oliver. He is witty and controlled except when it comes to Bella. He is suave but ironically very protective about the girl he plans to hurt. Initially Bella is a trusting soul when it comes to Oliver, too trusting really. It takes her a lot longer to figure out people's motives and recognize the reality of many situations. She has a tendency to jump to conclusions several times in this novel. What really holds this novel together and makes it a very good read are the emotions the leads share with each other. They are raw and honest with their feelings even the negative ones. They are passionate too. Both have to reevaluate both the past and their futures and they are able to accomplish these goals by communicating their hurt, desires and even their secrets to each other. This is a fine story of how love not revenge heals the broken parts of our lives.

Revenge, lust, passion

Again, author India Grey has charmed me with Taken for Revenge, Bedded for Pleasure. It's a very intense love story, full of passion, secrets, pain and intrigue. On top of that, both Olivier Moreau and Bella Lawrence carry a lot of baggage from their past. Set in London and the French countryside I felt drawn to the hustle and bustle of the City but India's description of the French countryside, and the Moreau farm house made me want to plan a trip to France. This couple's journey begins in an unconventional way and almost ends in an explosive and violent manner. They both are fighting demons from their past....Bella has issues with her family plus suffered at the hands of a man who used her and then publically shamed her. Oliver has definite issues from his childhood and has not seen his father in years. Now returns to France and is shocked at seeing Bella again. He has to decide what type of revenge he is going to take against the Lawrence family for their past transgressions against his father and fights his attraction for Bella every step of the way. Olivier and Bella's story is a interesting one, full of obstacles, lust, mistrust that will have you cheering them on to find the happiness they so deserve. It's a beautifully crafted story as only India Grey can pen. Behind the book: As a reader I've always been fascinated by the Dedication Page and this one is no exception: "This one's for Daisy, who makes the hard times easier and the good times better. With love and thanks". Isn't that lovely?
