Amazing

This was my first book by Dara Girard and it won't be my last. Cassie hads some real issues with her weight but was able to see that Drake really did love and cherish her. Drake was a very strong willed person and did not give up on Cassis no matter what.

A Great Read!

I love this book. I couldn't put it down when I started it. I love romance novels but sometimes you like to read about real people. Most women in romance books are perfect. Cassie was real. She had real woman problems and just her luck she found a man that could handle her. If your looking for a great read then pick this up.

finally...a man that's ALL man!

Oh. My. Goodness. Drake was THE man. He was rough around the edges, socially unpolished, and took the 'whatever' attitude to a new level, but his brotherly love for his siblings and his don't-stop-get-it-get-it love for Cassie made him softer. He went after that which he wanted...including a woman with a dogged dermination that was admirable. I liked the fact that he could cook, but I loved the fact that he knew how to turn a woman on mentally, bring out the serious mack in the bedroom, and show the beast to anyone who threatened what he considered his. What completely won me over was his passionate defense of Cassie, and how he refused to tolerate any derogatory remarks about her from anyone, including herself. His remark that she deserved better [than what she was getting from various people] and that he would make sure that she got it, demonstrated that he not only loved her but respected her as well. The setdown he gave one of admirers was textbook, but the what-for he delivered to her parents practically ad me cheering aloud and doing an end zone dance. "Go Drake!" One of my favorite parts was when one of the characters revealed to Cassie that she could not recognize when people loved her. It was important because it is a fault that numerous people have, and they frequently realize wtoo late that someone thought that they were wonderful.Sure, Cassie had serious issues with her weight, and Drake had serious issues with his past, which occupied a fair amount of space in the book, but that is life. The characters had real life issues that they had been dealing with for a large part of their lives and you cannot sum that up in a hundred pages. This book had everything: a man defending his woman; a woman fighting for her man; a couple fighting for their inner peace and their future, and humor. This book is a keeper. I thoroughly enjoyed it and eagerly await Ms. Girard's next book.

I loved it!

This book captured my heart. It was romantic and funny and real. I read it in one day. The characters leapt off the pages and their strengths and flaws were something I could relate to. I can't wait to read future books by this author.
